sunflowers

It has been raining here for over a week now. I have been so sick of the gray skies and rain that when it was finally sunny today, I wanted to take full advantage of it. It had been several weeks since we have visited The Biltmore, so the part of the daily Biltmore gang loaded up and went for a stroll in the sunshine.

Justin and I stopped by The Biltmore yesterday for my birthday and discovered that the sunflowers were blooming. I immediately notified my mom to let her know. She missed the sunflowers last year and wanted to make sure she saw them this year.

Today, we walked through the gardens, ate lunch at Antler Village and then walked along the sunflowers. The sunflowers line a paved path that goes on for a good two miles. Part of the trail was closed due to flooding [and Jessica being too hot and uninterested in walking any further!] At one point, my mom asked her when she would start liking flowers. Jessica replied that she is a tom-boy and will probably never like them! I loved having them back in town and soaking up the vitamin D with them. It was beautiful and wonderful.

Here are some pictures we took:
