7 Days of Valentine

This year for Valentine's Day, Justin surprised me by giving me a little something for 7 days. He called it the 7 Days of Valentine. I LOVED this idea! It was fun to have a little surprise to look forward to after a day of work. One of the things that I love about my husband is that he is very romantic and comes up with the best/most thoughtful/creative gifts.

The 7 Days of Valentine began on Friday night when he got home from work.

Day #1: Cute cupcake card with a sweet note and an explanation of the 7 days.

Day #2: Chocolate truffles from a chocolate shop in town.

Day #3: Beautiful red roses.

Day #4 (Valentine's Day): Homemade romantic dinner.
He made me my favorite meal (kind of). My favorite dinner is called Chicken Supreme and is a recipe that my mom and dad make for special occasions. Justin told me that he was going to make it for me! I asked him if he had called my mom to get the recipe and he said no and that he found it online. I told him that it was most likely not the right recipe because it is a recipe that my dad has. Although it was not exactly the right meal, it was very delicious and extremely thoughtful of him!

Day #5: Song on his guitar.
Justin proposed to me by singing me a song that he wrote about us and our relationship. For the past year and a half I have asked him numerous times to sing the song to me again. On day #5 he was planning on singing me a different song that he had written for me. However, since we have both been sick and with his sore throat he was not able to play and sing it. I am still waiting for day #5 to take place!

Day #6: Dinner at Bogart's.
We went out to dinner at one of my favorite steak places in down town Raleigh, Bogart's. It is a fun restaurant with a Humphrey Bogart theme that plays old movies and Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble type music. We were able to get 2 salads, 2 entrees (me: Filet Mignon, him: Rainbow Trout) and a bottle of wine for $40!!

Day #7: Salsa dancing at the Red Room.
For a little while now, we have been talking about how it would be fun to go salsa dancing. Red Room, a tapas restaurant in down town Raleigh, has salsa lessons every Thursday night, followed by salsa dancing. For my last day of celebrating Valentine's day, we were going to go salsa dancing. We ended up not going last night because we are both recovering from being sick and it was really late at night. We are planning on going next week or the following week on a Thursday when I don't have to work the next day. I also need to mentally prepare myself for this! I am NOT a dancer at all and I need to get myself ready. I'm excited to try it out though!!

I loved this past week! I loved being surprised and wooed by my husband. I am so thankful for him and all that he does for me. He makes me feel very special and I love his creativity when it comes to planning things for me!

  1. Such a fun week - way to go Justin!! That restaurant sounds super fun -- and I feel the same way about dancing. Definitely need to mentally prepare for that : )
