Southern Baby Shower: The Aftermath!

Surprisingly, we were able to fit all of our gifts into Justin's fit. As he always likes to say, "The Fit is Go!" With all the seats down, all the boxes were strategically arranged and made the drive over to our little one-bedroom apartment.

Since we live in a one-bedroom apartment (but only for 47 more days at the latest- more on that later) we really did not have a whole lot of space to put all of the baby stuff. We first just unloaded it and stacked it in the corner of our dining room, which then blocked the laundry room door.

The night after the shower, my sister Jen and I had fun going through all the gifts and organizing them into their specific categories. Have I mentioned that I am Type A?

 Baby boy clothes

 Diapers- 360 in all!

 Toys

Bath and hygiene on left: feeding and kitchen on right

 Stuffed animals and books

After working and being gone for 10+ hours a day, I basically just come home nowadays, change into my comfies and make camp on the couch. Justin has also been extremely busy managing two jobs, graduate school and a pregnant wife. Let's just say that although we are two very orderly, cleanly and slightly OCD people, there are times where we just don't have time to put everything away. One day last week, Justin stepped out of the bathroom and saw the piled up trash around the trashcan, a pile of dirty dishes in the sink and the overwhelming pile of baby items in the laundry room (which was also preventing him from doing laundry). He said that it looked like we lived on an episode of Hoarders. I disagreed and said it wasn't that bad ;)

The next day, he moved all the baby items into our bedroom, so now we have an orderly pile of baby items and boxes lining the wall of our bedroom. I also kept one of the diaper cakes arranged and that is now the centerpiece on our dining table! I still love looking at it and enjoy the aroma of diapers that is filling our apartment.

The crib was left in an office at the ministry building since we absolutely have no space for it right now, although I would love to also have it set up in the corner of our bedroom.

I am so thankful for all the gifts that we received for this little boy! I am eagerly waiting to actually take everything out of the boxes and put the car seat in my car, wash the itty-bitty clothes, and place everything in the right spot. We just have to wait a tad longer to see where exactly that right spot is ;)
